Track Your Contacts' Job Changes With These Two Services

Keeping track of your friends' and work contacts' jobs can be difficult. It is important though for both personal and professional reasons to know what is changing and to acknowledge it when appropriate. In the past keeping an eye on LinkedIn change notifications was hard, with Facebook being even harder. Today we have two simple services that everyone should use.

Career Notify tracks your Facebook friends' changes in their jobs.

Job Change Notifier finds changes in your LinkedIn connections' work experience. (Update: Due to changes in LinkedIn's API this service has shutdown.)

Both of these will send you an email when something changes. It takes the needed work out of watching for changes on your networks. I have used the LinkedIn one for a while and it has proven it's worth and I just signed up for the Facebook version and am sure it will be as useful.

Identified Gets a Redesign and Upgrade

Identified has updated their website to have a new look along with some new features. It appears they may be moving towards a professional networking website instead of, or in additional to, a job application service. What has and is changing will not be fully known for a few weeks as they slowly implement the changes. What we know so far:

• New look - Cleaner look with more data
• Scoring/ranking - Individual values are given for your work history, education, and network that are added together to give you a total score. This ranking is used to rank you at the companies you are working at or have worked for, as well as your ranking within your network
• Metrics - Number of times you have been shown in searches and the total profile views
• Upvote/Downvotes - Possibly a type of recommendation tool
• Followers - The number of people following you
• Gmail address book import - To find more followers
