It is time to dusrupt the hospital ER

As I sit at the hospital in support of a family member who came to the emergency room I wonder when this space will be disrupted. There is no reason not to have hospital displays in waiting areas and/or hospital apps that can be loaded on our cell phones that give us information.

Statistics could be given allowing us to know anonymous data about the number people waiting, estimated wait times, staffing, etc. Once they are in the system and past triage we could tap in to our loved ones location, status, and other non-medical condition information. It would need to be protected by a password given out in conjunction with validating patient information.

Doing this would ease the nerves of the patient's family and friends. It would also free up hospital staff from having to give status updates.
