Speedtest Updates, the service that tests your internet connection bandwidth, has updated its interface and added some new features. It now uses a new method to automatically select a server based on the lowest ping time at that moment. You can also register to have the ability to create Speed Waves, label and group your connections, as well as view your past tests.

The most innovative feature to be released is Speed Wave. It is a new way to compare results with others and have competitions. You can even earn badges, which are awarded for achievements such as being the first to participate, recording the fastest or slowest speeds and more.

The new UI is nice and the page initially loads faster. The additions make testing your speed a bit more fun and will surely spur more return visitors. Even if you don't register the new server selection alone makes the service better and it is a great way to test your internet connection.
