Google And OpenDNS Work Together On The Global Internet Speedup

Google Public DNS, OpenDNS, and others are collaborating together on The Global Internet Speedup. It gets very technical about how it works, but you do not have to do anything if you’re using OpenDNS or Google Public DNS and visiting a website or using a service provided by one of the participating networks or CDNs.

What is essentially does is to route your information requests (internet traffic) to the best server based on location, speed, and current traffic levels. It makes DNS smart and dynamic! This is being made possible by an open standard IETF Draft called edns-client-subnet. This is needed for the Internet to grow and accommodate more users with higher bandwidth needs.
